Trauma Awareness in Practice

This practical training by Dragan Wright from Blue Knot Foundation focuses on the implementation of all five trauma-informed principles.
 
The importance of connection and collaboration between worker and client is key for resilience and recovery. Building safe relationships with worker and service is critical. Embedding the trauma informed principles into everyday practice creates the safety for healing to begin.

This training looks at practical skills to create a safe base to work from and to understand signs of potential trauma and apply the foundational knowledge of complex trauma to your work.

By participating in this training, participants will:
  • Explore dimensions of safety and its applications
  • Discuss ways of introducing trauma sensitive conversations 
  • Identify key skills needed to apply a trauma lens when working with our clients
  • Apply the five trauma informed principles to the workplace and identify key areas to build upon in practice  
This training will suit those who provide services to people who have experienced trauma. It is applicable to diverse sectors including, but not limited to, health, mental health, alcohol and other drugs services, community, legal, justice, domestic and family violence, child protection, emergency, disability, housing, settlement, and employment services.
